Funded universities

971 tenure-track professorships were created at 75 universities in Germany under the Federal Government-Länder Funding Programme since 2018. The tenure-track professorship career path was permanently implemented by the funded universities.

University of Oldenburg

Based on a lawful professorial appointment management system and a successful strategy for the promotion of W1 junior professors – both established for a long time – the University of Oldenburg (UOL) has solidly implemented tenure track professorships as a career path for early career researchers.

Osnabrück University

The project "Tenure-Track-Konsequent" will substantially improve the predictability of scientific careers in the long term, structurally establish the tenure track as a quality-assured model throughout the university and ensure scientific innovation in the different disciplines.

Film University Babelsberg Konrad Wolf

In the field of artistic research in particular, the establishment of the Institute for Artistic Research, internal funding and the introduction of a scientific-artistic doctorate have led to a considerable increase in the volume of research.

University of Potsdam

In addition to the sustainable implementation of replacements for professors through the ongoing TT program, which is financed with budgeted funds, the UP intends to use funding from the Federal-States Program to expand its staff structure to add 12 professors.

By intensifying and systematising the use of a tenure-track model, Universität des Saarlandes is introducing a transparent route to lifetime professorial appointment as well as opening up new possibilities to prepare for other types of permanent academic post.

University of Education Schwäbisch Gmünd

University of Siegen

In the competition to identify and recruit the most innovative researchers and with the aim of enabling young researchers to have a lifetime appointment at a significantly younger age than today and at the same time ensuring the greatest possible transparency and thus predictability, the university rectorate decided in 2017/18 to introduce Tenure Track across the board.

University of Stuttgart

During the course of the funding programme, the University of Stuttgart will successively establish additional tenure-track professorships from its own resources and pledges to advertise up to 20% of all W3 professorships as tenure-track professorships (W1) in the long term.
