Funded universities

971 tenure-track professorships were created at 75 universities in Germany under the Federal Government-Länder Funding Programme since 2018. The tenure-track professorship career path was permanently implemented by the funded universities.

University of Hohenheim

With the implementation of the tenure-track-professorship the University of Hohenheim expects to be able to win over early career researchers during the most productive and creative phase of their career and to diversify its personnel structure by increasing the proportion of women and international researchers.

Technische Universität Ilmenau

By participating in the TT programme, the TT career path at the TU Ilmenau is to be further established, permanently extended to all five departments and thus embedded as a fixed component of personnel development.

Friedrich Schiller University Jena

Friedrich Schiller University Jena (FSU) looks back on a successful track record in promoting young academics, in particular doctoral and postdoctoral researchers. Following the strategic goals of early independence and reliable career tracks in science, FSU has introduced the career path of the tenure-track professorship.

Technische Universität Kaiserslautern

Since 2017, TUK has established a new TT system, which fully adapts international standards and anchors TT professorships in TUK’s appointment system with respect to quality and quantity.

Karlsruhe Institute of Technology

KIT seeks to offer multi-perspective, transparent and clearly structured career options for young researchers. It has identified the planning and development of human resources as a strategic field of action to help improving the employment conditions of young researchers and tenure-track professors.

Karlsruhe University of Education

In 2016, Karlsruhe University of Education has developed a concept of quality assurance for junior professorships with tenure track. Furthermore, the sustainable implementation of a tenure track-career path for junior professors is defined in the University’s latest structural and development plan (2016-2021).

University of Kassel

Capitalising on the programme’s funding, the University of Kassel will systematically establish the appointment of professors to tenure-track positions, thus establishing this career path option in compliance with the comprehensive, yet flexible legal provisions in the State of Hesse.

Kiel University

As Schleswig-Holstein's only comprehensive university, Kiel University has a particular responsibility to increase the transparency of the career perspectives for its young researchers and thereby enable open career paths that can be planned individually

University of Cologne

The University of Cologne will foster its tenure-track professorships for young researchers (as well as its other independent young researchers on alternative career paths) with comprehensive measures regarding e.g. research support, teaching didactics, personnel and career development as well as a variety of programs aiming at family support as well as equal opportunities.

University of Konstanz

The University of Konstanz has for many years advanced the careers of junior researchers by supporting their early independence and by offering a variety of parallel career paths. The systematic implementation of tenure-track professorships is meant to advance a cultural change: Tenure-track professorships will be established in all 13 departments and they will be increased significantly in number
