Funded universities

971 tenure-track professorships were created at 75 universities in Germany under the Federal Government-Länder Funding Programme since 2018. The tenure-track professorship career path was permanently implemented by the funded universities.

Universität Erfurt

For the coming years, the University of Erfurt aims at expanding the variety of its career paths and continues to pursue its particular position as a university that offers new opportunities for young researchers.

Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg

The FAU tenure track is designed for young scientists with relevant international experience, who specifically choose FAU as the platform for their long-term career development and the region Erlangen-Nuremberg as an ideal science location, where they can successfully demonstrate their exceptional scientific talent.

European University Viadrina Frankfurt (Oder)

The early acquisition of outstanding academic personalities and talents from Germany and abroad as well as their promotion and development at all career levels offers a great opportunity to sharpen and constantly renew the university's profile together with excellent young academics.

Europa-Universität Flensburg

Against the background of the TTP, which was introduced in 2010, the EUF already considers itself well positioned with regard to cultural change. The proposed project "Promotion of Quality and Internationalization of Tenure Track Professorships" is intended to test and further develop new funding approaches for TTP.

Goethe University Frankfurt

As part of the outlined project, Goethe University will carry out the university-wide implementation of the standards that were evaluated and developed for appointing professors using a tenure-track system so as to provide an opportunity for early career development.

TU Bergakademie Freiberg

Tenure-Tracks for the so called junior professorships will be introduced at the TU Bergakademie Freiberg. For implementation, systemic tools will be developed, which ensure the continuation of the career path of excellent scientific junior staff in a plannable and transparent manner.

University of Education Freiburg

Systematic fostering of the new generation of academics is an important strategic goal for the University of Education Freiburg. The career path of “Tenure-Track- Professorship” is already firmly anchored in the university’s Structure and Development Plan of 2011 and again in the Plan of 2016.

University of Freiburg

The important aspect for the further development of the University of Freiburg’s personnel structure and career system is that while the tenure-track professorship is one of the university’s main instruments for promoting early career researchers, though not the only one. Academics have several career paths open to them from the doctoral phase on.

Hochschule Geisenheim University

Hochschule Geisenheim University (HGU) is opening more long-term and sustainable career paths in order to promote excellent scientists. In 2017, the university's executive committee took a key decision to reinforce their recruitment policy by establishing a tenure-track system to appoint young scientists with high potential as assistant professors.

Justus Liebig University Giessen

Implementing the tenure-track professorship is a central element of the JLU personnel development strategy, which aims to offer all JLU staff groups development and advancement under the motto “Qualification – Inspiration – Enablement”.
