The Technical University of Munich (TUM) has started a new career system for its faculty staff, defined in the statute “TUM Faculty Recruitment and Career System” of 1 July 2012. The aim of the new system is to hire excellent academic talents as independent Tenure-Track Assistant Professor (W2) as early as possible, to support these professors along their career path and to promote them to Associate Professor (W3, tenured) after six years in case of positive evaluation. The career path also includes the opportunity for a promotion to Full Professor with improved conditions concerning remuneration and resources. With this career system TUM offers excellent conditions for next-generation faculty staff to develop their careers at TUM.
